Music Research Guide

Important Library Resource for Music Students at KCC.

Course Reserves for Music (Books, CDs, DVDs)

Many Music Faculty at KCC utilize Library Reserves, allowing them to make supplemental class resources available to all students via the Library. Housed behind the Library Checkout Desk, reserve items include books, audio CDs, Videos/DVDs, articles as well as other materials.  Some are for library use only, others can be checked out, usually for one day or one week. Library Reserves are listed in the Library Catalog and can be searched by Instructor or Course.

For example, a search by instructor Gerald Blanchard shows Gerald has reserve items for these six courses (links take you to reserve list):

       MUSIC 107, Voice Class

       MUSIC 112-115, Individualized Voice Lessons

       MUSIC 127e, Individualized Lessons Enrichment

MUSIC 141, Fundamentals of Music for Teaching

       MUSIC 250, Music History

       MUSIC 297, Music Special Topics

You can search for reserves from the Course Reserves tab at the top of the Library Catalog's main screen (see below). Once at the Course Reserves search screen select the tab you want, conduct your search and a results list of the reserve materials for the Course or Instructor will appear.  Items are obtained from the Library Checkout Desk.

MOST Videos/DVDs are for Library Use Only
.  Two Video/DVD players are available for use in the Library Study Rooms.  Additionally, there are stand only viewers on the Library's Second Level. Also, when an instructor has a CD on reserve it is often for Library Use Only. Remember the Library checkouts head phones for listening on the lab computers.
