Library Hours:

Note: The calendar above defaults to showing the library's hours for the current week, you can view past and future hours by using the "Previous" and "Next" buttons to the top left of the weekly calendar.

Borrowing Privileges

Students can check out up to 25 items (Books, CDs, DVDs, etc.) at a one time. To check out items, bring a photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, Passport, or KCC Student ID) to the circulation desk.

Students can also check out equipment for in-library use including laptops, chargers, iPads, and study rooms (see below).  For further information on borrowing policies including fines for late items, visit the Borrowing Policy page. For more information on how to find materials, visit the "Using the Library Website" page of this Guide or search the Library Catalog.

Student Study Rooms

Students enrolled for one (1) credit or more in the current semester may check out a study room. Study rooms loan out for four hours at a time and can be renewed once depending on availability. Study rooms seat either nine or four students, though students are able use one of the smaller rooms while alone. Study rooms go out on a first-come first-serve basis. Please contact the library for further information.

Database Access

Students can access the library's various electronic resources by signing in with their k-ID (e.g. k0123456) and Bruin password. Most research Guides recommend databases that are most relevant to that subject area, but you can also visit the A-Z Database List for a complete listing of all Library Databases, or search using the main search on the Library's Homepage. Learn more about using library databases on the "Using the Library Website" page of this guide.

Interlibrary Loan

If Morris Library does not own the book or article you want, we may still be able to help you access it through Interlibrary Loan. These free services allow you to borrow materials from other libraries through us to collect either at the Library Check-Out Desk or receive via your KCC Email.

You can request items through MeLCat here, or through our article interlibrary loan service here.To Learn more about either of these services, please visit either the "Using the Library Website" or "Research Tips" pages of this guide.

Research Assistance

Librarians are happy to guide you through the research process. If you're on campus, stop by the Library Information desk to get help from a librarian. You can also use the contact information listed in the Contact Information box on any Research Guide page or visit the "Get Help" page of this Guide to set up a meeting with a librarian or learn more about our services.

What are the library's current hours?

You can find our current hours on the Library Information Guide.

How do I get a Library Card?

If you have a KCC photo ID, you already have a library card! Simply bring your student ID to the Check-Out desk and we will put a barcode on the back to ensure faster checkout processes in the future, You can also checkout materials with another form of photo ID such as a driver's license or passport.

Note: For allied health students, your clinical ID is different from a student ID. Your photo ID must list your full name to be valid for item check-out.

How can I renew my materials?

You can renew your book directly by signing into the Library Catalog (you will be asked to log in with your K-ID and password).

How can I check out a study room?

Bring a valid photo ID to the library Check-Out Desk and ask for a room. Rooms are given out on a first-come first-serve basis, so if all the rooms are checked out, you may have to wait for the next available room.

Do I have to be on campus to use the Library?

No, the library has many materials available for online access. If you're accessing library resources off-campus you will be asked once to log in with your K-ID and password.

How can I log in to the library databases?

Your library login is your KCC ID number *with* the lowercase k but *without* the email domain (i.e. k0123456) and the same password you use to log in to the student portal and Moodle. If you have any problems logging in, please contact the library using one of the methods in the "Contact Information" box on this page.

Where should I go to find sources for my assignment?

The discovery search on our homepage is a great place to start. Here's a video that explains all the tips and tricks of the Discovery Service.

You can also visit the Recommended Resources page of this guide for databases and other materials recommended for this subject area. If you still can't find what you're looking for, please contact the library for further assistance.

How do I cite my sources?

That depends on which class you're in! At KCC you will be using APA, MLA, or Chicago, depending on the class you're taking.

This Guide's citation page should have the relevant citation information for this subject. If not, please let us know using our Research Guide Feedback survey. You can find information on all three styles on the Citation Guide.

Do you have any textbooks in the library?

We do have a collection of textbooks (which we call course reserves) available for in-library use. You can search the list of available course reserves by your instructor's name or by the course number in the Course Reserves section of the Library Catalog

I need more help!

Here are a few ways to get help from the library:

  • Visit the library and ask your question at the Check-Out or Information Desk
  • Use one of the methods listed in the Contact Information box of this guide
  • Get virtual help from a librarian 24/7 using Research Help Now!

Note for Librarians: would it make more sense to have a separate FAQ guide?
